What is a yard sale?
Noun. A sale of goods held on the seller's own premises. Synonyms: garage sale, rummage sale, table top sale.
Think of it as a Car Boot's cousin who doesn't like to drive!
This year we have two satellite sites for our "yardless" neighbours: St. Barnabas has once again offered us their lawn, and St. Michael's their car park (Saturday only).
Community & business partners welcome
We're currently looking for community organisations who'd like to take part and host a booth to highlight their cause, local businesses who want to participate, and 'satellite' locations for sellers who may not have a yard to pitch up.

How do I take part?

No ticket, no sign-up — just turn up! Follow the trail from street to street, hunt for bargains, and support your neighbours. Bring cash, a tote bag, and your best haggling face.
What can I sell?
Just about anything! It's an event for all ages, so we suggest you keep it PG, but basically anything you'd find at a car boot and then some!
We want folks to get creative: are you a home baker? Do you make jewellery? Are you an artist with original work? Yes please!
It's also a great opportunity for children to get entrepreneurial! Who doesn't love a lemonade stand!

What do I do with my unsold items?
You're responsible for setting up and packing down each day. Unsold items can be donated to local charity shops, posted to the "Recycle More Southfields" WhatsApp group, or listed for free on apps like Olio, Gumtree, or Facebook Marketplace.
I don't have a front garden — what can I do?
We're looking for community hubs to host stalls for sellers without a front garden, or who are slightly off the main map. If you think your church or local organisation could host stalls, please get in touch!
What am I responsible for?
- Pricing and supervising your own items
- Managing transactions during the event
- Bringing any display materials you'd like to use
- Bringing change/float for cash payments
- Removing all unsold items afterwards
Are any items banned from being sold?
Yes — you cannot sell: alcohol, cigarettes or vapes; fireworks or explosives; flammable liquids; counterfeit or stolen goods; or illegal, unsafe or age-restricted items.
What if it rains?
A little rain shouldn't stop us, but if the weather really isn't playing ball, the event will be postponed or rescheduled. We won't be selling at St Barnabas if there's significant rain.
What sells well, and any tips for my stall?
Almost anything! Think kids' toys and books, kids' clothes and shoes, crockery, books, clothes and accessories, furniture, tools, posters, original art, potted plants, textiles, wool and yarn, picture frames, craft materials and more. Get creative!
Styling tips: hang clothes on a washing line, give shoes a polish, group items by theme or colour, display books upright rather than in boxes, and vary the heights of your display.
Sellers offering homemade food are responsible for clearly labelling any allergens.
